ISTS (International Symposium on Space Technology and Science) is the most popular international conference in Japan concerning space technology and science.

 Its objectives are to encourage specialists of space engineering, space science, space medical and space law to exchange information through presentations and to promote space related activities.

ISTS is organized biennially. Since the first symposium was held in 1959 in Tokyo, Japan, ISTS has been held constantly, recently biennially, in Japan and the 27th ISTS in 2009 was the 50th anniversary of ISTS.
